History
Mayne Pharma's Salisbury site was acquired in 1983 by F H Faulding & Co Limited. In the 1980s, the company developed delayed-release doxycycline capsules (DORYX®) and enteric coated aspirin (ASTRIX®), and the WF Scammell Research Centre opened at Salisbury. In the 1990s, it developed taste-masking technology (CLEANTASTE®) and sustained-release morphine (KADIAN®/KAPANOL®). In the 2000s, it developed improved bioavailability technology (SUBA™), pellet-in-a-tablet technology (DORYX®), and LOZANOC®/TOLSURA® improved formulation of itraconazole. In the 2010s, Mayne Pharma acquired Metrics, Inc., a CDMO with a niche generic product portfolio and pipeline; acquired the DORYX® brand and related assets in the US from Actavis; acquired a US portfolio of products from Teva and Allergan in the US; acquired US foam dermatology products from GSK – FABIOR® and SORILUX®; and licensed NEXTSTELLIS® from Estetra/Mithra. In the 2020s, it launched NEXTSTELLIS® and established a Women's Health team; sold the Metrics Contract Services business to Catalent; sold its retail generics portfolio to Dr Reddy's; and acquired the license to ANNOVERA®, BIJIVA®, IMVEXXY® and pre-natal vitamins from TherapeuticsMD.
