Merituuli

Kauppakeskus Merituuli (commonly Merituuli) is a shopping centre in Suomenoja, in the Nöykkiö district of Espoo, Finland, close to the Länsiväylä motorway. It was established in 1970 and expanded in 1998 and 2014. The centre is characterised as a retail park because of its business specialisation and the large size of its individual stores; its pedestrian shopping corridor is small relative to the total floor area, and more than 500 parking spaces are arranged in the forecourt, including charging points for electric cars. Merituuli specialises in leisure, hardware and interior decoration. A large part of its space is occupied by Kesko-owned stores, notably the K-Supermarket grocery store and the K-Rauta hardware store. As of April 2024 the centre had 11 stores; the official website currently lists 12 businesses, including Beauty Barbers, Budget Sport, Hesburger, Intersport, Isku, Leo's, PakuKympillä.fi and Pisarameri Oy. The centre also hosts parcel lockers from Posti and DHL, is accessible under the Esteetön Espoo programme, and provides electric-vehicle charging. After renovation the total area of Merituuli exceeds 36,000 square metres, part of which is outdoor space such as a covered pickup yard. The shopping corridor is open Monday to Saturday 08–21 and Sunday 10–18, with opening hours varying on public holidays; individual stores open between 07 and 10 in the morning and close between 18 and 21 on weekdays. The centre is located at Isonniitynkuja 2, 02270 Espoo. Nearby are the Finnoonsolmu junction of the Länsiväylä, Kuitinmäentie and Finnoontie, served by several local bus lines; despite its name, Merituulentie is not currently near the shopping centre.

Kauppakeskus Merituuli was established in 1970 in Suomenoja, in the Nöykkiö district of Espoo, Finland. It was expanded in 1998 and again in 2014. Over time the centre developed a specialised profile in leisure, hardware and interior decoration, and because of this specialisation and the large size of its stores it came to be described as a retail park rather than a conventional enclosed shopping centre. A large share of its premises is occupied by Kesko-owned stores, in particular the K-Supermarket grocery store and the K-Rauta hardware store. A major renovation modernised the centre, giving it a new shopping corridor and refurbishing all retail premises. After the renovation works the total area of Merituuli exceeds 36,000 square metres, part of which consists of outdoor areas such as a covered pickup yard. The forecourt provides more than 500 parking spaces, including charging points for electric cars. The shopping corridor gives visitors a comprehensive view of all the stores and services in the centre. As of April 2024 the centre housed 11 stores. The official website currently lists 12 businesses: Beauty Barbers, Budget Sport, Hesburger, Intersport, K-Rauta Merituuli, K-Supermarket Merituuli, Leo's Espoo, PakuKympillä.fi, Pisarameri Oy, Isku, Kontti (the Red Cross recycling department store) and HopLop. The centre offers parcel lockers from Posti and DHL, is accessible in line with the Esteetön Espoo programme, and provides electric-vehicle charging to support environmental sustainability. It is located at Isonniitynkuja 2, 02270 Espoo, near the Finnoonsolmu junction of the Länsiväylä and close to Kuitinmäentie and Finnoontie, which are served by several local bus lines.
