Overview

Monte Music (Монте Мюзик) is a Bulgarian music company founded by popular singer Vladimir Ampov – Grafa and his long-time PR manager Magdalena Sotirova, who serve as managing partners. The company operates across artist management, music production, publishing and public relations, and has become one of the most visible independent players in the Bulgarian pop and rock scene. Its roster has included Grafa himself, the band Akaga, and a series of younger artists such as Mihaela Fileva, Venzy, Billy Hlapeto, Preya and Victoria Georgieva. Monte Music releases albums and singles, produces music videos, and organises large-scale concerts and national tours. Among its best-known projects are the concerts "Akaga and Friends" and "Grafa – 20 Years Live" in Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture (NDK), the national tour "Grafa and Akaga 2009", "Grafa – Together for the Children of Bulgaria", the "Plug&Play" tour, and shows such as "Grafa – Out of Love for Life" and "Grafa – Domino". The company also produced the duet "Chuvash li me" by Maria Ilieva and Grafa, whose single and video set a record for airplay on Bulgarian radio and television. Since 2010 Monte Music has organised the annual Bansko Opera Fest, marking its expansion into classical music, and from 2013 it has staged major events at NDK Hall 1 with international opera soloists. In 2015 the company and BG Radio launched the "BG Version" project, a music format broadcast on BNT HD with its own YouTube channel, each edition presenting a unique concert by a popular Bulgarian artist. The company is based in Sofia at 125 Knyaz Aleksandar Dondukov Blvd. and operates as a limited liability company (ООД). Its management contact is Yoana Ivanova. Monte Music remains active in the Bulgarian music market, combining recorded music, artist development and live entertainment.

History

Monte Music was founded by popular Bulgarian singer Vladimir Ampov – Grafa and his long-time PR manager Magdalena Sotirova, who are managing partners in the company. Within months of its creation, the roster grew to include established acts such as Akaga, Santra and Kristo, as well as young performers Boryana Boneva and Kaloyan Ikonomov. The company built its reputation on both recorded music and live events. It released the albums "Akaga – 1993 – 2008" and "Grafa – Greatest Hits", and produced singles for Boryana Boneva and Kaloyan Ikonomov. The single and music video for "Chuvash li me", a duet by Maria Ilieva and Grafa, set a record for airplay on Bulgarian radio and television. Among Monte Music's largest achievements are the major concerts it organised at Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture (NDK): "Akaga and Friends" and "Grafa – 20 Years Live". It also staged the national tour "Grafa and Akaga 2009", "Grafa – Together for the Children of Bulgaria", the "Plug&Play" tour featuring the company's artists, and concerts such as "Grafa – Out of Love for Life" and "Grafa – Domino". In 2010 Monte Music organised the first edition of the annual Bansko Opera Fest, expanding its activities into classical music. From 2013 the company began organising large events on the stage of NDK Hall 1 with international opera soloists. The roster continued to evolve. In 2012 Mihaela Fileva, Venzy and Billy Hlapeto joined Monte Music's catalogue and quickly became stars. In 2013 Preya signed with the company and established herself as a notable artist on the Bulgarian music scene. Other artists associated with the label over the years include Divna, Alex and Vladi, Victoria Georgieva, Niki Bakalov, Rafael and Denitsa Karaslavova. In 2015 Monte Music and BG Radio launched the "BG Version" project, a music format broadcast on BNT HD with its own YouTube channel; each edition is a unique concert by a popular Bulgarian artist. The company remains active, with recent news covering tours by Grafa, the Bansko Opera Fest and stage productions such as "Beauty and the Beast" at NDK Hall 1.
