Overview

Moss Maritime is a Norwegian maritime engineering company and a fully owned subsidiary of Saipem. It provides design and engineering services to the offshore energy sector and other ocean-based sectors. The company is known for designing semi-submersible drilling platforms and the Moss LNG carrier.

History

Moss Maritime has its roots from the former Moss Rosenberg Shipyard in the city of Moss, Norway. After the close-down of the shipyard in the 1980s, the company had many shapes and forms until it was included into the Saipem umbrella in 2001. The company name is closely associated with the Moss LNG carriers. The history timeline includes: 1973 first Moss LNG carrier delivered from MRV; 1987 Moss and Fredrikstad shipyards brought together under MRV parent company; 1988 engineering division separated from shipyard business; 1991 Kværner created Kværner Moss Technology; 1996 Kværner Moss Technology merged with Maritime Engineering to form Kværner Maritime; 2000 Moss Maritime A/S was formed.
