Overview

MS Industrie AG is a German listed holding company headquartered in Munich. It is the parent company of a focused technology group operating in two main business areas: drive technology (branded "MS XTEC"), which supplies systems and components for heavy internal combustion engines and new drive forms, and a strategic participation in ultrasonic technology ("MS Ultrasonic"), covering special-purpose machines, series machines, and ultrasonic systems and components. Its key customer industries include the global commercial vehicle and passenger car industries, followed by the packaging machinery industry, medical technology, other plastics-processing sectors, and general mechanical and plant engineering. The company pursues a strategy of primarily organic growth within the drive technology field while providing value-enhancing management of its other participations. The company's roots go back to GCI – Gesellschaft für Consulting & Implementierung, founded in 1991 as a management consultancy. On 4 October 2000, the present company was established as GCI Management AG. It went public on 29 May 2001 on the regulated market of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. Initially focused on acquiring distressed companies for turnaround, the company restructured after three portfolio insolvencies and high losses, shifting its focus to majority stakes in industrial and real estate companies. In September 2010, after repositioning as a holding company, it was renamed GCI Industrie AG. In July 2012, it changed its name again to MS Industrie AG to highlight its core areas of engine and welding technology, following its most important subsidiary, Maschinenfabrik Spaichingen. MS Industrie is the parent company of manufacturing businesses in five countries. Fully consolidated subsidiaries include Elektromotorenwerk Grünhain GmbH in Grünhain-Beierfeld, Germany; MS PowerTec GmbH in Zittau, Germany; MS Powertrain Technologie GmbH in Trossingen-Schura, Germany; EMGR EAD in Gabrovo, Bulgaria; MS Plastic Welders, L.L.C. in Webberville, Michigan, USA; Shanghai MS soniTEC Co., LTD. in Jiangyin, China; and WTP MS Ultrasonics in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The company's share capital is divided into 30 million no-par-value shares. Strategic investors and management holdings are considered fixed holdings, while around 60% of shares are in free float. The company is listed in the General Standard segment and is included in the CDAX index.
