The brand was founded by Joan Rojas, who created a seamless microfiber tube as a protective solution for sun, wind, and cold. The company is family-owned and based in Catalonia, Spain, where it continues to innovate and produce high-quality gear.

Original Buff was founded by Joan Rojas, who was looking for a protective solution to the sun, wind, and cold while touring the country roads of Catalonia on his motorcycle. He created a seamless microfiber tube. At his family-owned knitting factory just outside of Barcelona, he created the first BUFF prototypes. In 2002, the company moved into a new factory just outside Barcelona, 8,000 square meters. Today, BUFF remains a family-owned company based in Catalonia.
