The company describes itself as a family-based business focused on teaching students a different way to think about how they learn, and it operates over 100 centres across Canada.
History
Oxford Learning was founded by Dr. Nick Whitehead in 1984 in London, ON. The first Oxford Learning location began with only a few simple programs in place, at a time when cognitive learning was still a new concept in the field of education. Dr. Whitehead's research in epistemology informed his belief that there was a better and more effective way to help students get better grades. The primary goal was to teach students a different way to think about how they learn, equip them with confidence in their abilities, and teach them the tools they need to be successful students for life. As students enrolled and saw the difference Oxford Learning was making to their grades, word began to spread and the centre became busy. With a few years of student success, Oxford Learning grew. The company has been celebrating over 40 years of helping students get better grades, and it operates over 100 centres across Canada.
