Overview
PiLeJe is a group that has been manufacturing and distributing products for 30 years, embodying expertise in micronutrition, phytonutrition and the use of microbiotic strains. Its products are prescribed or recommended by healthcare professionals. The group selects and develops ingredients and specific pharmaceutical forms based on plants, microbiotic strains and micronutrients, and has its own manufacturing division, PiLeJe Industrie. It reports 700 employees at 5 sites in France, 318 product references, and a presence in 43 countries including 8 subsidiaries. PiLeJe's purpose is to promote the health of each individual and maintain it for as long as possible, applying what founder Dr Christian Leclerc calls 'health-based medicine'.
History
At the end of the 1980s, Dr Christian Leclerc was practising as a GP in a rural community. He observed that most of his patients complained of functional disorders such as tiredness, irritability and digestive problems, and found that traditional medicine left him unable to treat these symptoms as he would have liked. With the encouragement of his colleagues, he began by looking at nutrition, which was the starting point for a new discipline that would preserve and maintain health by taking micronutrients: Micronutrition. For Christian Leclerc, this certitude wasn't merely based on his own beliefs - continual research has proven the link between nutrition, health and prevention. The PiLeJe Group has been manufacturing and distributing its products for 30 years, and PiLeJe has played a pioneering role in the study of probiotics, developing protocols for the investigation and selection of specific strains.
