History
POLYTEC was founded in 1986 by Friedrich Huemer, who started producing finishers for piste machines in a rented factory hall in Schlüsselberg. The first order was the production of polyurethane molded parts, such as finishers for piste machines. In 1995 the company entered the automotive supplier industry through the acquisition of f/o/r Kunststofftechnik in Hörsching, and Friedrich Huemer handed over the management of POLYTEC INDUSTRIAL to his wife Ulrike Huemer. In 2000 the Swiss private equity fund Capvis acquired a majority stake of 67 percent, while Friedrich Huemer retained the remaining shares and the group's real estate. In 2002 POLYTEC expanded its series business in injection molding by acquiring the sites in Idstein and Lohne that became POLYTEC PLASTICS. In 2004 it expanded its interior business through the acquisition of seven plants. In spring 2006 POLYTEC went public on the Vienna Stock Exchange, and Capvis sold all its shares to free-float shareholders. The group has since grown into a leading developer and manufacturer of pioneering plastic solutions on four continents with around 3,000 employees.
