Overview

RASPA Hakusan (ラスパ白山, RASPA hakusan) is a mini-mall shopping center located in Kuramitsu, Hakusan, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, operated by UNY Co., Ltd. It is positioned near the center of Hakusan City, about one kilometer south of Matsuto Station on the IR Ishikawa Railway Line, in an area that also includes the city hall, Matsuto General Sports Park, and the public Matsuto Ishikawa Chuo Hospital. The center opened in stages beginning in 2014, with the core store, Piago Hakusan, serving as its main grocery and daily-goods anchor. The mall concept is described as a "three-generation community shopping center" supporting everyday comfortable life, and all buildings are single-story. The site is divided into an eastern A plot, which opened first, and a western B plot, which remains largely undeveloped and is used mainly as a temporary parking lot. The A plot contains the main building with the Piago store and most of the specialty tenants, including apparel, shoes, miscellaneous goods, books, cleaning services, mobile phone sales, a travel agency, and children's learning classes. Two separate buildings on the eastern edge of the A plot house restaurants. The center is part of UNY's dominant-store strategy in a competitive area; it is only about one kilometer from the existing Apita Matsuto store, but the company positions the two to capture demand in a densely contested trade zone. RASPA Hakusan is not a standalone corporate brand but a retail facility brand under UNY, which itself is part of the PPIH Group (Pan Pacific International Holdings). The Piago Hakusan store handles food and daily necessities but not apparel or household goods, and the center has offered services such as a Circle K mini service counter in the past, though that has since been removed. The facility provides a range of community-oriented services and amenities, including wheelchair loans, multipurpose restrooms, a nursing room, a powder room, recycling stations, ATMs, and postal services. The official website for the Piago Hakusan store serves as the primary online presence for the shopping center.

History

RASPA Hakusan was planned as a new shopping center in Hakusan City, Ishikawa Prefecture, in the early 2010s. In May 2012, after consultations with local stakeholders, the decision was made to open the store. Construction began in early summer 2014 by Kumagai Gumi, with the provisional name "(tentative) Piago Hakusan Kuramitsu Store" as the core store. The center was developed on two plots: the eastern A plot, which opened first, and the western B plot, which remained largely undeveloped. The A plot's main building houses the Piago Hakusan store and most of the specialty tenants, while two separate buildings on the eastern edge of the A plot contain restaurants. One of these, Ishiyaki Steak Zei Ishikawa Hakusan, opened ahead of the main center on November 21, 2014. The B plot is mostly an unpaved temporary parking lot, and to its west a Circle K store previously operated before being replaced by a fitness gym. The center is located about one kilometer south of Matsuto Station, in an area with the city hall, Matsuto General Sports Park, and Matsuto Ishikawa Chuo Hospital, positioning it as a central community hub. The mall concept is "a three-generation community shopping center supporting everyday comfortable life," and all buildings are single-story. The core Piago Hakusan store handles food and daily necessities but not apparel or household goods. A Circle K mini service counter was once installed at the service counter to provide convenience store services, but it has since been removed. The center is part of UNY's dominant-store strategy, deliberately placed near the existing Apita Matsuto store to capture demand in a competitive area. The facility offers numerous community services, including wheelchair loans, multipurpose restrooms, a nursing room, a powder room, recycling stations, ATMs, and postal services. The official website for the Piago Hakusan store serves as the primary online presence for the shopping center.
