Overview

Redemption Roasters is a British cafe chain with eleven shops around London. It trains prison leavers with skills for secure employment and operates a roastery inside HMYOI Aylesbury. The company was officially born in October 2016 after being approached by the Ministry of Justice.

History

Redemption Roasters began when Ted and Max met at St Andrew's University in June 2008. In June 2013, Max co-founded Black Sheep Coffee. In June 2015, Ted and Max launched Catimor Ltd, a wholesale coffee company. In October 2016, they were approached by the Ministry of Justice about setting up a roastery in a prison, and Redemption Roasters was officially born. In April 2017, their roaster was installed at HMYOI Aylesbury, and their first barista graduate, Talib, joined the team. In July 2017, their first shop opened on Lamb's Conduit Street.
