Reframing Studio

Reframing Studio is an independent innovation agency based in the Netherlands with more than 25 years of experience. Founded in 1993 as a design and innovation consultancy, the studio initially designed innovative products for industry. Over time its focus shifted toward the role of design in major societal transformations, including healthcare, mobility, ecology and democracy. The company describes itself as having moved away from designing solely for individual and commercial interests, maturing into a practice that uses design to collectively reimagine alternative futures and responsibly effect change. The studio operates through a set of expertises and a proprietary approach known as the Reframing Method, which it applies to complex, interdependent societal issues. In 2016 it launched the Reframing Academy, which enables organisations and students to cope with future challenges and turn ambition into action. Reframing Studio has remained a small design company with purpose, allowing it to react and move swiftly without excess overheads. Its team members are involved in education, participating in juries and committees and organising workshops and lectures. The agency presents itself as working on projects across sectors and maintains a public presence through its website, publications, news and social channels including LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and Vimeo. It offers bilingual communication in English and Dutch.
