Overview

RINGFOTO Group is described on its official website as Europe's largest photo association (Fotoverbund). According to the site, its brands include RINGFOTO and PHOTO PORST, and it states that almost all other specialist photo shops in Germany belong to it. The group says over 1,000 specialist photo shops rely on the strength of the community, and that it has subsidiaries in Austria and the Netherlands while supplying dealers in 27 further countries such as Luxembourg, Italy, France and the Czech Republic. The company describes itself as more than a purchasing cooperative, aiming to strengthen members' competitive position and support their business activities across the value chain.

History

According to the official history page, RINGFOTO began in 1965 with a small group of specialist photo dealers and has since developed into a major player in the photo industry; the page states it has over 60 years of experience and is Europe's largest photo association. In 2019, the shareholders approved renaming the company RINGFOTO GmbH & Co. ALFO Marketing KG to UNITED IMAGING GROUP GmbH & Co. KG, and the page notes that a large part of the Fotoco dealers then joined RINGFOTO. On 1 December 2021, the management decided, with shareholder approval, that UNITED IMAGING GROUP GmbH & Co. KG would again become RINGFOTO GmbH & Co. KG. On 1 October 2022, the supervisory board appointed Thilo Röhrig as Geschäftsführer, succeeding Michael Gleich, who retired after 29 years. In 2025, a new umbrella brand called alfo was launched, uniting alfo.passbild, alfo-fotobuch and a future marketplace for photo products and accessories under one name.
