Overview

Sateliot is a newspace company that is launching the first LEO satellite constellation based on the 5G standard, enabling unmodified commercial IoT devices and smartphones to connect directly from space. It brings 5G IoT and D2D connectivity with full interoperability between terrestrial and satellite networks, designed to provide secure and reliable communication to governments and businesses. Founded in 2018 to connect the world with the first low-orbit 5G-IoT constellation, Sateliot launched its first satellite in 2021, its second satellite 'The Groundbreaker' in 2023, and its 'Revolution' mission of four satellites in August 2024. It is headquartered in Barcelona and is supported by the European Investment Bank and partners such as ESA, the European Commission and EUSPA.

History

Sateliot was founded in 2018 to connect the world with the first low-orbit 5G-IoT constellation. In 2021, it launched its first satellite to test its technology and actively joined 3GPP working groups shaping the 5G standard, contributing 17 technical proposals — the highest number from any space company. In 2023, it launched its second satellite, The Groundbreaker, with the aim of further refining its technology and defining its first commercial mission. Its latest mission, Revolution, launched four satellites in August 2024 — the first to deliver 5G NTN (Non-Terrestrial Networks) technology and to provide service to its customers. The new era begins with Tritó, a new satellite developed in its 5G satellite development center in Barcelona, described as 15X bigger, more resilient and capable.

Products and positioning

Sateliot positions itself as a pioneer in 5G NTN, offering satellite connectivity that works with existing IoT cellular hardware, powered by telecom operators, at pricing comparable to terrestrial networks.
