Overview

Scality is a data infrastructure software company founded in 2009 in San Francisco and Paris. It builds software-defined data infrastructure for organizations whose data can't fail, with a portfolio spanning Scality ADI, Scality ARTESCA, and Scality RING.

History

Scality was founded in 2009 in San Francisco and Paris by Jérôme Lecat, Giorgio Regni, and a small engineering team, who began building the storage foundation. In 2010, Scality released the first general release of the RING software, a distributed object storage built for petabyte-scale environments. In 2012, the MultiScale Architecture was patented, making independent scaling across capacity, performance, namespace, and geography a core architectural advantage. In 2014, Scality achieved its first exabyte deployment. In 2017, national research and defense adoption marked sovereign workload use.
