Scavolini started out in Pesaro in 1961 as an artisan workshop with a small production of modular kitchens, which soon became popular. This began the adventure of brothers Valter and Elvino Scavolini who, encouraged by this initial success, expanded the premises and introduced innovations. In the 1970s, increased production required transformation: the company strengthened its distribution and sales network and adopted more advanced technologies, and for the first time collaborated with specialist designers. In 1975 it launched its first national campaign and started sponsoring a promising local basketball team in Pesaro. In 1984 it gained the leadership of the national market, becoming "the most popular and beloved kitchen in Italy". Scavolini has been making kitchens for more than 65 years, evolving from a craft-based business into an industrial concern. In 2023 it was added to the Special Register of Historic Brands of National Interest, a register set up by the Ministry of Economic Compliance that only includes trademarks that have been in business in Italy for at least fifty years.
