Overview
SieMatic is a kitchen furniture brand that states it has been crafting first-class kitchen furniture since its company was founded in 1929. Its planning principle is built on four style worlds — PURE, URBAN, CLASSIC and MONDIAL — with which living spaces can be designed worldwide. The brand presents its own stories, news and events, including global studio openings, international trade shows and competitions.
History
The history of SieMatic is presented as intertwined with the history of the kitchen, moving from kitchen buffets to modernist kitchens and modular kitchens, and from the first fitted kitchen to new interior design concepts. The company states it has been crafting first-class kitchen furniture since its company was founded in 1929. In 1929, August Siekmann Möbelwerke showcased its products for the first time at the Leipzig Trade Fair, presenting kitchen sideboards with names such as ‘Erna’, ‘Hannelore’ and ‘Ruth’. In 1953, having surpassed the one-million mark in turnover through the production of lavishly fitted kitchen units and having built a new office block, August Siekmann Möbelwerke surprised the market with a completely redesigned range of modernist kitchens; the finish made from Japanese Sen ash was referred to as ‘Goldrüster’. In 1960, August Siekmann Möbelwerke became the SieMatic brand, and its very first kitchen range, the SieMatic 60, was hailed as a sensation, described as the world’s first kitchen with an integrated handle strip. In 1975, the blue and white SieMatic 1001 AL became the epitome of the ‘cosy kitchen’.
