Overview
Sigma Computing is a United States-based enterprise software company whose platform turns a cloud data warehouse into a runtime for analytics, AI Apps, and AI agents. Rather than copying data into a proprietary in-memory engine, Sigma queries the customer's warehouse directly, so permissions, audit, lineage, and change management stay governed at the source. Users work through a familiar spreadsheet-style interface, formulas and functions, SQL, Python, or chat, and can write decisions and forecasts back into the warehouse and trigger downstream workflows. The company positions itself as a replacement for static dashboards and for the sprawl of standalone SaaS tools that teams buy for individual workflows. Its pitch is consolidation: build an app once on governed data, then scale it across the business. Typical use cases shown by the company include pipeline forecasting, territory management, scheduling, project management, revenue forecasting, and demand planning, along with executive briefing apps built on live revenue data. Sigma reports that it is trusted by more than 2,000 leading enterprises, that customers have built over 6,000 AI apps on the platform, and that more than 1,900 organizations are building on Sigma. It is backed by venture investors and has raised a Series D of $200 million and a $75 million Series E at a $3 billion valuation. The company has been recognized in the analytics and business intelligence market, including placement on the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Analytics and Business Intelligence, and has won partner-of-the-year recognition from Snowflake, Databricks, and Fivetran. Leadership includes CEO Mike Palmer, CTO and co-founder Rob Woollen, and Chief Architect and co-founder Jason Frantz, alongside CFO Christina Liu and other executives. The board includes Brad Gerstner, John McMahon, René Bonvanie, Chad Peets, and Pete Schlampp. Sigma has expanded internationally, opening an Asia Pacific and Japan headquarters in Sydney, Australia, and has signed strategic agreements with cloud partners such as AWS. The company remains privately held.
History
Sigma Computing was founded by Rob Woollen and Jason Frantz, who today serve as CTO and Chief Architect respectively. The company built its platform around a warehouse-native architecture: instead of extracting data into a separate analytics engine, Sigma queries the customer's cloud data warehouse directly, so security and governance hold at the source. The user experience was deliberately modeled on the spreadsheet, with familiar formulas and functions, so that business users could work with live data without engineering support. Over time Sigma extended beyond dashboards into what it calls AI Apps: interactive applications built directly on warehouse data, with writeback, approvals, and automated steps. The company reports that customers have built more than 6,000 AI apps on the platform and that more than 1,900 organizations are building on Sigma. Its stated mission is to move teams from insight to action in one workspace, replacing spreadsheet chaos and standalone SaaS tools. Sigma's growth has been accompanied by successive funding rounds. It raised a $200 million Series D in 2024, and later a $75 million Series E at a $3 billion valuation. The company reported reaching a $100 million ARR milestone and subsequently a $200 million ARR milestone, doubling year over year, while surpassing 2,000 customers and adding 1.1 million new active users in a single fiscal year. Product milestones include the launch of Sigma Agents, described by the company as the fastest-adopted feature in its history, and the hosting of Workflow, its first-ever user conference, in San Francisco. Sigma has also expanded internationally, establishing an Asia Pacific and Japan headquarters in Sydney, Australia. In the market, Sigma has been recognized on the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Analytics and Business Intelligence, and has received partner awards from Snowflake (Business Intelligence Data Cloud Product Partner of the Year for the third consecutive year), Databricks (2026 ISV Business Intelligence Partner of the Year), and Fivetran (Partner of the Year). In 2026 it signed a strategic agreement with AWS to accelerate AI Apps, agents, and analytics, and was named a launch partner for Databricks' Lakehouse//RT real-time lakehouse. The company remains privately held and venture-backed, with J.P. Morgan joining its list of equity investors.
