Overview
SiliGOM is a French retail network specialising in tires and automotive maintenance, operating more than 200 points of sale in France, its overseas departments (Guadeloupe and Martinique) and Morocco. The brand positions itself as a specialist in tires and vehicle servicing, offering close to 500 services covering tire replacement for passenger, industrial and agricultural vehicles as well as broader maintenance such as servicing, oil changes, air conditioning, brakes, shock absorbers, exhausts, batteries and wiper blades. Its headquarters are located in Jonage, near Lyon. The network was born in 1997 when twelve tire-dealer members of the PAP purchasing group developed a concept that included a retail banner, working with a network-creation professional and a communications agency. On 17 March 1998 the company SiliCo was created as a société anonyme operating two banners: SiliGom, aimed at the general public, and SiliPro, aimed at professionals. SiliGom is fully owned by its adherents: each affiliate is a shareholder of the company, which preserves the network's independence from industrial and financial groups. The company became Siligom SAS in 2003. Over the years SiliGom has expanded its offer beyond tires into full vehicle maintenance, launched services such as tire guarantees and Siligom Assistance, harmonised its centres under the banner's colours, and developed digital tools including the Siligom Appro purchasing portal (2013), the Silinet intranet (2014) and its e-commerce site siligom.fr (2016). It has also expanded internationally, opening outlets in Morocco, and created the Siliglass banner for vehicle glazing repair and replacement in 2019. In 2020 the network passed 200 outlets in France and counted 12 outlets in Morocco. SiliGom collaborates with major global tire manufacturers such as Michelin, Continental, Goodyear, Pirelli, Bridgestone, Dunlop, Hankook, Falken, Nexen and Vredestein. The network reports around 1,000 employees under the banner and 800,000 tires sold per year for revenue of €165 million. Its governance is provided by a board of directors composed exclusively of SiliGom adherents elected by the network's affiliated members, and it grants master franchises for its overseas and international development.
History
SiliGOM's history begins in 1997, when twelve tire-dealer members of the PAP purchasing group decided to create a concept that included a retail banner. They worked with a professional in network creation and a communications agency to give birth to SiliGom. On 17 March 1998, SiliCo was created as a société anonyme operating two banners: SiliGom, aimed at the general public, and SiliPro, its professional-oriented variant. From the outset the network was fully owned by its adherents, with each affiliate a shareholder of SiliCo. In 2001 SiliGom positioned itself as a tire specialist and reinforced its image with the signature "Siligom, Techniciens du Pneu" (Siligom, Tire Technicians). The network continued to develop and enriched its commercial offer with services and products related to vehicle maintenance. Alongside tire replacement, it added oil changes, servicing, exhausts, shock absorbers, braking, batteries and wiper blades. In 2003 the company SiliCo became Siligom SAS. In 2007 new services enriched the offer, including a tire guarantee, and SiliGom launched its "qualité Excellence" (Excellence quality) project. In 2008 SiliGom celebrated its 10th anniversary and Siligom Assistance was created. By 2010 the network counted 100 points of sale. While remaining operated by independent adherents, the centres were harmonised under the banner's colours to strengthen the network identity and support brand development and recognition. In 2013 the Siligom Appro internet portal was launched, allowing adherents to source tires on the best terms from European platforms. In 2014 SiliGom transferred its head office to Jonage, near Lyon, and launched Silinet, an intranet site enabling dematerialised information exchange within the network. The following year the graphic charter was modernised, including a new logo. In 2016 SiliGom launched its e-commerce site www.siligom.fr. The structure Viasso, co-owned by Point S and SiliGom, was created to centralise purchasing in France for more than 700 points of sale belonging to the Siligom and Point S networks, and to negotiate and manage agreements with rental and key-account clients. Synergies were put in place by both banners to develop this structure. In 2017 the banner opted for new communication by collaborating with Christophe Dugarry, who quickly became the brand's ambassador on television and online for three years. A year later the network celebrated its 20th anniversary and the subsidiary Siligom Express was created. SiliGom internationalised by opening points of sale in Morocco: Casablanca, Marrakech and Fès were the first cities where Siligom Maroc deployed. In 2019 the Siliglass network was created, defining itself as the specialist in glazing repair and replacement for all types of vehicle. In 2020 SiliGom passed the 200-point-of-sale mark in France and counted 12 points of sale in Morocco, while Siliglass already had more than 30 points of sale. Today SiliGom is an independent network of more than 200 centres in France and Morocco, with around 1,000 employees under the banner and 800,000 tires sold per year for revenue of €165 million. Its head office is in Jonage (69), near Lyon, and the banner offers close to 500 services in its points of sale. It collaborates with major global manufacturers such as Michelin, Continental, Goodyear, Pirelli, Bridgestone, Dunlop, Hankook, Falken, Nexen and Vredestein. The network's economic model is based on 100% of SiliGom's capital being held by its member-shareholders, preserving its independence, and it is governed by a board of directors composed exclusively of SiliGom adherents elected by the affiliated members. Master franchises are granted for development in the overseas departments and abroad.
