Somar

Somar Corporation, established in 1948, is a hybrid company combining manufacturer and trading functions. It deals with a wide range of products including high-functional materials (films, resin products, electronic materials), environmental materials (paper chemicals, fine chemicals), and food materials (dried vegetables, spices, thickeners). The company has expanded globally with subsidiaries in Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Thailand, India, the United States, the Netherlands, Vietnam, and Singapore.

Somar Corporation was established in February 1948 as Hyogo Kenzai Co., Ltd. in Kobe. It changed its name to Marusho Sangyo Co., Ltd. in 1949. In 1984, Marusho Sangyo absorbed Somar Kogyo Co., Ltd. and changed its name to Somar Co., Ltd. The company was listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Second Section in 1988 and transitioned to the Standard Market in 2022.
