Springfield Group

Springfield Group is a cluster of energy companies with integrated operations spanning the entire oil and gas value chain, including upstream exploration and production, oilfield services, and downstream trading. Launched in 2008, the group describes itself as being at the forefront of the oil industry in Ghana, with activities spanning exploration and production of oil and gas as well as transportation, storage and trading of hydrocarbons. It operates the West Cape Three Points Block 2 (WCTP Block 2) through subsidiary Springfield Exploration and Production Limited (SEP).

Springfield Group was launched in 2008. Following its acquisition of a permit to provide services to the upstream petroleum industry in Ghana in 2011, Springfield became heavily involved in the provision of oilfield services, supplying vessels, logistics, subsea equipment, oil rigs, marine construction equipment and maintenance services. Over a period of 5 years, Springfield supplied about 12.5% of Ghana's petroleum product requirements and was a leading exporter of refined products to neighboring land-locked countries like Mali and Burkina Faso. It was the first independent Ghanaian entity to lift the Government of Ghana's crude oil entitlement from the TEN field in 2016 and 2017. In 2019, Springfield Exploration and Production Limited (SEP), a subsidiary of Springfield Group, signed a contract with Stena Unicon Offshore Services Ghana Ltd. for the Stena Forth Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit for a drilling campaign on WCTP Block 2. In 2024, Springfield E&P commenced an appraisal of its Afina-1x Well at the West Cape Three Points (WCTP) Block 2 Offshore, contracting the Deepsea Bollsta Rig from Northern Ocean Limited (NOL).
