Overview
St Giles International is an English language training organisation founded in 1955 by Paul Lindsay and his wife Diana. It began as a school of English in a small room in Soho, London, and has grown into an international organisation with six year-round centres in the UK and Canada, as well as Junior Summer Courses in the UK. The organisation describes itself as a family business with over 70 years of experience, and states that around 10,000 students from almost 100 countries choose St Giles each year. Its UK centres are licensed by UKVI to issue documents supporting student visa applications.
History
St Giles International was founded in 1955 by Paul Lindsay and his wife Diana. Paul trained as a teacher and taught English and French to native English speakers at a north London polytechnic. He took a summer job at an English language school on Oxford Street, saved £100, rented a small room in a back street of Soho, London, and launched a school of English. The first St Giles School of Languages opened in Soho, London in 1955. A second centre opened in Brighton in 1969, and St Giles Highgate opened in North London in 1975. The organisation has since grown into an international organisation with six year-round centres in the UK and Canada, as well as Junior Summer Courses in the UK. Founder Paul Lindsay has commented that St Giles is celebrating its 70th anniversary and credited Mark Lindsay and staff.
