Overview

Suburban Seating & Safety, established in 1947, provides leading-brand aftermarket seats, replacement fleet seat covers, parts, safety products, and accessories for heavy-duty vehicles including on- and off-highway trucks, buses, fire and rescue, and ferry boats. The company serves nationwide fleets, owner-operators, and government agencies.

History

Suburban Seating & Safety, originally Suburban Auto Seat Co., Inc., was established in 1947 by Walter Winfield as a one-man upholstery shop focusing on convertible automobile tops and seat covers. In 1973, Robert Winfield became President, shifting the company strategy to focus on truck and bus seat re-upholstery within the Northeast. The company was officially incorporated in 1978, with Jane Winfield joining as Vice President. In 1991, it began scaling to service major fleets nationwide, and in 1996 it expanded to sell worldwide. In 2011, Amy Winfield joined as President, making it a third-generation company. In 2013, it was certified as a woman-owned business by WBENC. In 2016, it became a member of the Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) of American Trucking Associations (ATA). In 2018, it launched a sister site, FerryBoatSeats.com.
