Synforest

Synforest Inc. (株式会社シンフォレスト) is a Japanese company based in Meguro-ku, Tokyo, that produces and sells multimedia software, video software, and music software. Founded in June 1994 and incorporated on August 1, 1995, the company began by releasing CD-ROM photo collections such as 'Biei・Furano' and went on to publish over 200 CD-ROM titles combining photography, art, and music. As the market shifted, Synforest moved into DVD production in December 2000 and later into Blu-ray, releasing more than 100 DVD titles and a growing Blu-ray catalog. Its output focuses on environmental video, BGV (background video), nature scenery, railways, airplanes, and healing movies featuring dogs and cats. The company also operates a licensing and library service called 'Synforest License & Library,' providing stock footage, program sales, and content for video distribution platforms. Synforest has received the BCN AWARD for Best Hobby/Entertainment Software in 2000, 2002, 2003, and 2004. It remains a private company with a small staff of about 10 employees.

Synforest Inc. was founded in June 1994 and incorporated on August 1, 1995, in Meguro-ku, Tokyo. The company began by releasing its first CD-ROM photo collection, 'Biei・Furano,' in June 1994, at a time when Windows 3.1 was the dominant operating system and QuickTime had just been introduced. Leveraging the emerging multimedia environment, Synforest published over 200 CD-ROM titles that combined photography, art, and music, earning a reputation for 'Synforest Quality.' The company received the BCN AWARD for Best Hobby/Entertainment Software in 2000, 2002, 2003, and 2004. In December 2000, Synforest began releasing DVD software, which became its second pillar, with over 100 titles produced. In January 2005, anticipating the Blu-ray format, the company started its own high-definition shooting and actively produced HD masters for DVDs. Blu-ray releases began in October 2008 and achieved steady sales and critical success, with several long-selling titles. As CD-ROM and multimedia declined, Synforest shifted its focus to environmental video and BGV (background video) works, including scenery, railways, airplanes, and healing movies featuring dogs and cats. Since 2001, the company has operated the 'Synforest License & Library' service, providing content to video distribution sites, stock footage for TV programs and commercials, program sales, and software lending for business screenings. The company remains a private entity with approximately 10 employees and continues to release new titles, including zoo and nature DVDs.
