Overview

Systemair is a Swedish HVAC brand whose history dates to 1974, when its first product, a circular in-line centrifugal duct fan, was developed and introduced. The company describes operations spanning 51 countries, 90 partner companies, and over 7,600 employees. Its product portfolio covers commercial and residential air handling units, air distribution products, ventilation systems, fans, and heaters, alongside residential ventilation systems, air conditioners, fire safety products, air curtains, and heat pumps.

History

Systemair's history dates to 1974, when its first product, the circular in-line centrifugal duct fan, was developed and introduced and took off extremely well. By the end of that decade, 50% of production was being carried out in a partner facility in Norway. In the 1980–1990 period, production of Metsovent, the first residential unit with heat recovery, started in Skinnskatteberg; German fan motor manufacturers Ziehl-Abegg and ebm-papst were suppliers and then became partners through their Swedish subsidiary Ziehl-ebm, and today ebm-past AB is Systemair's second-largest shareholder. The company acquired 50% shares in RB Kanalfläkt, USA, and Kanalfläkt delivered 50,000 fans for the Eiffel Tower's 100-year anniversary. In the 1990–2000 period, Systemair acquired Frico AB, a specialist in air curtains and fan heaters; acquired Enviroment Air, Canada; acquired a factory in Bouctouche (Canada) as a production facility for the North American market; established a representative office in Moscow, Russia; acquired SCIE Systemair, previously a sales agent in France, whose name was later used by the whole Group; and acquired Europair in Söder... The company states it has come a long way since its humble beginnings in 1974, from its first invention in a small workshop in Sweden to present-day operations spanning 51 countries, 90 partner companies, and over 7,600 employees.
