Overview
Tage Mage (Test d'aptitude aux études de gestion et au management des entreprises) is a French standardized aptitude test used as a selection tool for management and business studies. It is administered by the FNEGE (Fondation Nationale pour l'Enseignement de la Gestion des Entreprises) and is used by around fifty institutions and programs, including grandes écoles de commerce, ESC, and universities in France, as well as in several Francophone countries. The test evaluates general aptitudes in mathematics, linguistics, and logic rather than specific knowledge, allowing candidates from diverse backgrounds to be assessed. Approximately 16,000 candidates take the Tage Mage each year. The test was created in 1996 by FNEGE through the merger of two aptitude tests: the Tage, managed by FNEGE, and the Mage, developed by EM Lyon. It is presented in multiple-choice question (QCM) format and measures three categories of aptitudes: verbal, problem-solving and numerical data handling, and logical reasoning. The test consists of six subtests, each lasting twenty minutes, for a total duration of two hours and thirty minutes, with 15 questions per subtest (90 questions total). It can be taken only once per semester (twice a year), and the score is valid for two calendar years. The test is organized by FNEGE or directly by schools, and sessions are held in various cities in France and overseas, including Nouméa, Martinique, Réunion, Algeria, and Canada. Registration fees are paid either directly to the institution or to FNEGE, depending on the session. The official website provides candidate information, preparation materials, and a calendar of sessions.
History
The Tage Mage was created in 1996 by the FNEGE (Fondation Nationale pour l'Enseignement de la Gestion des Entreprises). It resulted from the merger of two aptitude tests: the Tage, which was managed by FNEGE and regularly used by about fifteen university and consular institutions for selecting candidates for second and third cycle programs, and the Mage, developed by EM Lyon and used in grandes écoles de gestion that were members of the Centre international d'admission aux études de management (Ciam). Since its creation, the test has been used by around fifty institutions and programs in France and several Francophone countries to assess candidates for admission to university programs, higher schools of commerce, and continuing education cycles. The test is organized by FNEGE or directly by schools. It is held under normal exam conditions. Approximately 16,000 candidates take the Tage Mage each year. The test is offered in various locations, including overseas sessions in Nouméa, Martinique, and Réunion, as well as in Algeria and Canada. The official website provides a calendar of sessions, candidate information, and preparation solutions.
