Controversies
2012
Fined by telecom regulator over repeated large-scale network outages
On May 14, 2012, Macau Telecom personnel mistakenly restarted a 3G base station controller, affecting about 35,000 users, and the notification was later than the required deadline; another incident in February of the same year was also fined. In 2014–2015 it was fined again for incidents including maintenance negligence and damage to number-portability data. It was fined MOP 180,000 for each of the two 2012 incidents, and later MOP 100,000 and MOP 78,000 respectively.
