Overview
Techem is a leading service provider for smart and sustainable buildings. Its services cover energy management and resource conservation, healthy living environments, and process efficiency in real estate. Founded in 1952, Techem operates in 18 countries with more than 4,300 employees and provides services to over 13.5 million apartments. It delivers efficiency improvements along the entire value chain of heating and water in buildings, as well as renewable supply concepts and solutions, and is a market leader in remote radio-based metering of energy consumption in apartments.
History
Friedrich Ott founded Techem in 1952. It was one of the first companies to help distribute heating costs fairly according to consumption by recording individual heat consumption in apartments, initially using simple, analog installation and reading of evaporator tubes on radiators. In 1983, Techem launched electronic heat cost allocators on the market, which work more accurately than analog devices and can reduce measurement errors to a minimum. Techem has also been offering heat contracting since 1992 and introduced a radio system for consumption recording four years later.
