Overview
TeleNordest (also styled TeleNordEst or TNE TeleNordEst) is an Italian local television broadcaster headquartered in Padua, in the Veneto region. It broadcasts on digital terrestrial channel 18 in Veneto and channel 19 in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, covering Italy's north-eastern Triveneto area. The station traces its origins to 1984, when it was founded in Selvazzano Dentro (Province of Padua) by Giorgio Pinton, Paolo Masiero and Enrico Maconi under the name Tele Diffusione Europea. Its early schedule included films, TV series, cartoons, folklore programmes and a local news bulletin. From 1991 to 1994 it carried MTV programming for six hours a day and also aired some programmes produced by Telelombardia. In 1997 the broadcaster was sold to Mario Carraro, who in 2000 transferred it to his son Enrico Carraro; the Carraro family, through the financial company Finaid spa, also held a 10% stake in Telelombardia. In 2003 the station was sold by Carraro to Giorgio Panto, who renamed it TNE TeleNordEst and repositioned it as a service-oriented television project for north-eastern Italy, emphasising live broadcasting, local presence, audience contact, continuous news updates, live specials and useful information. At its peak the signal covered Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia, reaching a potential audience of nearly six million people with an average daily reach of around 400,000 contacts, making it one of the most prominent broadcasters in the Triveneto. On 1 April 2010 the channel was replaced by the new 7 News from the Tvision Group. In September 2012 it returned to streaming on the TVision Group website (Antenna Tre Veneto), and in August of that year it had also returned to digital terrestrial under the ownership of Rete Veneta. From Saturday 30 March 2013 it broadcast Spanish Liga matches for the 2012-2013 season. On 19 August 2013 TNE TeleNordEst ceased digital terrestrial transmissions, replaced by nordest.tv; it subsequently remained active as an internet web TV streaming only teleshopping 24 hours a day. In May 2017 the channel returned to digital terrestrial at position 19, taking the place of nordest.tv. Since 10 March 2022 the Veneto digital terrestrial channel has moved from channel 19 to channel 18, following the frequency refarming for the release of 700 MHz band channels to 5G telephony that took place on 8 March of the same year. The domain telenordest.it has at times been listed for sale on the Nidoma marketplace, while the broadcaster's streaming presence has been associated with telenordest.tv.
History
TeleNordest began in 1984 as Tele Diffusione Europea, founded in Selvazzano Dentro in the Province of Padua by Giorgio Pinton, Paolo Masiero and Enrico Maconi, who were already publishers of R.T.R. The station transmitted on UHF channel 29 and offered films, TV series, cartoons, folklore programmes and a local news bulletin. From 1991 to 1994 it broadcast MTV programming for six hours a day and also carried some programmes produced by Telelombardia. In 2003 the station was sold by Carraro to Giorgio Panto, who renamed it TNE TeleNordEst. It was conceived as a service television project for the north-east of Italy, characterised by the use of live broadcasting, territorial presence, contact with the public, continuous news updates, production of live specials and the transmission of useful information. The TNE TeleNordEst signal covered Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia, reaching a potential audience of nearly six million people, with an average daily reach of about 400,000 contacts, placing it among the most prominent broadcasters of the Triveneto.
