Overview
The Forum, Bath is a historic building in Bath, England. It was opened in 1934 as a cinema, designed by architect A.S. Gray in the Art Deco style. It later served as a bingo hall and dance school, and is now an arts centre and religious centre.
History
The Forum was opened in 1934, the last 'Super Cinema' of its kind to be built. It was built by the Avon Cinemas Company and opened on 19th May by the Marquis of Bath. It flourished as a cinema for three decades, closing in 1969. The building then housed a bingo hall and a dancing school. During the 1980s it was listed by English Heritage as a Grade II building, later upgraded to Grade II*. In 1988 it was purchased by Bath Christian Trust.
