Top Group discloses a steering-knuckle manufacturing issue linked to the Model Y recall
Top Group said a low water level in a quenching tank on a heat-treatment production line left some parts incompletely quenched, potentially causing steering knuckle strength to fall below design requirements. It reported an estimated defect probability of 0.2%–1.0% among the suspect batch and said the affected parts were supplied only for Model Y vehicles.

Tuopu Group said it had completed improvements to the heat-treatment production line and was conducting 200% hardness testing. It also said it had provided Tesla service centers with 132 instruments to identify risky parts for inspection and replacement.
