Overview
TVRS (TeleVisione Radio Sound) is an Italian regional television broadcaster headquartered in Recanati, in the Marche region. Founded in 1979 by Don Dino Issini, it has been a fixture of local broadcasting for over four decades, providing news, entertainment, and in-depth coverage of politics, culture, sports, and regional life. The station's mission, as stated on its website, is to inform, deepen, and entertain, with a strong focus on the Marche territory. Its long-running programme "La Nostra Gente," on air since 1980, celebrates local folklore, dance, and music, and is a distinctive part of its identity. TVRS broadcasts on digital terrestrial channel 13 and is available regionally via the Ei Towers Rete Locale 1 multiplex on UHF channel 42. Its coverage extends across the Marche region and into parts of the provinces of Teramo and Rimini. The station operates from its historic headquarters in Recanati, with additional offices in Fano (northern Marche) and Ascoli Piceno (southern Marche), opened after the 2021 change of ownership. In July 2021, a new ownership group led by Claudio Gabellini (80%) and Mariano Morosini (20%) took over the broadcaster, investing in human resources and technology to strengthen its regional presence. In June 2022, the same ownership acquired the online newspaper You Tvrs, founded by Andrea Busiello, who remains its editor-in-chief. TVRS continues to produce local news bulletins, sports coverage, and cultural programming, maintaining its autonomous editorial line.
History
TVRS (TeleVisione Radio Sound) was founded in Recanati in 1979 by Don Dino Issini. From its early years, the station focused on information, producing a local newscast and various in-depth programmes. Its coverage area gradually expanded to the entire Marche region and neighbouring provinces. In 1988, the broadcaster joined the Cinquestelle circuit, but the partnership lasted only five years; by 1993, it had returned to being an independent station. Since 1980, it has continuously produced and aired "La Nostra Gente," a programme dedicated to popular dance, folklore, and music in dance halls, parties, and festivals across the region. This programme is unique and a source of particular pride for the station. In recent years, TVRS has broadcast delayed matches of several local sports teams, including Scavolini Pesaro (basketball, Serie A), Fileni BPA Jesi (Lega Due Basket), Lube Banca Marche Macerata (men's volleyball Serie A1), Scavolini Pesaro (women's volleyball Serie A1), Fortezza Recanati (DNA Basket), and two A2 volleyball clubs from Loreto, as well as summaries of minor football, basketball, and volleyball championships. Cycling and bocce also have weekly slots. In autumn 2011, it agreed with Scavolini Pesaro basketball to broadcast live away matches not covered by RAI or La7. At the end of August 2013, direct production of content ceased. A turning point came in July 2021, when a new ownership entered: two well-known entrepreneurs, Claudio Gabellini (legal representative and 80% shareholder) and Mariano Morosini (20% minority shareholder), who strongly believe in the Marche region. They invested heavily in human resources and technology, resulting in three offices: the central one in Recanati, one in northern Marche (Fano), and one in southern Marche (Ascoli Piceno). Their goal is to unite the region and put Marche residents at the centre of their editorial project. In June 2022, the same ownership acquired the online newspaper You Tvrs, founded by Andrea Busiello, who remains its editor-in-chief, to make the investment complementary. TVRS is visible regionally on digital terrestrial via the Ei Towers Rete Locale 1 multiplex on UHF channel 42. The station continues to inform, entertain, and provide in-depth coverage of politics, entertainment, medicine, animals, and other news from the region.
