Overview

Twinkle Model Agency, legally known as Twinkle Co., Ltd. (株式会社トゥインクル), is a model and entertainment agency headquartered in Hachinohe, Aomori Prefecture, Japan. Founded on December 4, 2013, it grew out of a predecessor office called An Olive, established in 2006 by Hiroyasu Kuroshima as a "citizen-participation" model production. The agency represents models, talents, MCs, and artists active mainly in Aomori Prefecture, and it also operates a paid employment placement business licensed by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare. Its motto emphasizes purity, kindness, and humility over mere ability, and its stated mission is regional revitalization, broadcasting Aomori's potential nationwide. The company's history is closely tied to its founder's personal journey. Kuroshima, a Sapporo native and licensed pharmacist, moved to Hachinohe in 2001 while continuing amateur music activities. Believing that the internet and social media allowed local talent to reach national audiences without major Tokyo agencies, he launched An Olive in 2006. In 2012, the office handled local casting for NHK's morning drama "Amachan" and supplied the first Miss Universe Japan Aomori pageant. In 2013, the business was renamed Twinkle Co., Ltd., and obtained the paid employment placement license. The agency has since produced local idol units such as Cinderella Magic EAST, which debuted in 2017 and reached a major label, and pacchi, which became an official idol and PR ambassador for the Tatehana Wharf Morning Market in 2020. In 2018, it formed a business alliance with Tokyo-based Irving, and in 2022 it relocated its office to the Grand Sunpia Hachinohe hotel, where it also runs a lounge cafe. A fan club, Twinkle Kouenkai, was established in 2024. Twinkle's roster includes dozens of models, actors, and talents across women, girls, men, and boys divisions, as well as groups like Sugar & Spice and pacchi. Notable past members include Momoka (now Momoe Kubo), a Hachinohe city council member, and Rena Hashimoto, a Miss Japan runner-up. The agency remains privately held and is led by representative director Hiroyasu Kuroshima, who continues to work as a pharmacist in Hachinohe while heading the agency.

History

Twinkle Model Agency traces its origins to December 4, 2006, when Hiroyasu Kuroshima founded a "citizen-participation" model production called An Olive in Hachinohe, Aomori Prefecture. Kuroshima, a Sapporo native and licensed pharmacist, had moved to Hachinohe in 2001 while continuing to pursue music as an amateur. He believed that the spread of the internet, social media, and video streaming allowed local talent to achieve national recognition without belonging to a major Tokyo agency. In April 2009, Momoka (now Momoe Kubo), a popular talent from Hachinohe who had been active at Sun Music Production from 2006 to March 2009 and was runner-up in the first Miss Weekly Playboy contest in 2005, joined the office. Her presence increased work in commercials, modeling, and local media reporting. In 2012, An Olive handled local casting for NHK's morning drama "Amachan," covering the first through third rounds of location shooting, the Miss Kitetsu contest, otaku and cameraman roles, and earthquake scenes. That same year, it supplied the first Miss Universe Japan Aomori pageant. On December 4, 2013, the business was renamed Twinkle Co., Ltd., and obtained a paid employment placement license from the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare. The name "Twinkle" was chosen to signify producing shining people from Hachinohe. At that time, Kubo was representative and Kuroshima was chairman; in 2014, Kuroshima became representative and Kubo became a director. In April 2015, Momoe Kubo ran as an independent in the Hachinohe city council election and won her first term, drawing attention as a "beautiful city council member." In July 2017, the agency debuted the regional model-idol unit Cinderella Magic EAST, which achieved a major debut with Universal Music that same year. In 2018, Twinkle formed a business alliance with Tokyo-based model agency Irving and became involved with the lounge "Caf'e Dream Sweets Time" on the first floor of Grand Sunpia Hachinohe. In 2020, the talent Ai appeared regularly on TBS TV's "Nakai Daisuke to Honda Tsubasa to Yonayona Love-ko-san." In October 2020, Ai and pacchi were certified as "Tatehana Morning Market PR Ambassadors" and "Tatehana Morning Market Official Idols," and in November they paid a courtesy visit to the Hachinohe mayor. In 2022, the office relocated to the Grand Sunpia Hachinohe hotel, and the lounge was renamed "Lounge Cafe by Twinkle." In 2024, the Twinkle fan club was established, with Hironori Kameda, a Hirauchi town council member, as chairman. As of 2026, the agency continues to operate from Hachinohe, with Kuroshima balancing his role as representative with his work as a pharmacist.
