Overview

Ukrgrafit (Ukrainian: Укрграфіт) is a Ukrainian manufacturer of carbon and graphite products, based in Zaporizhzhia and historically rooted in the Dnipro industrial complex. Its origins trace to the Dniprovskyi Electrode Plant (Дніпровський електродний завод), whose industrial production of anodes for aluminium electrolysers began on 21 September 1933 — the date the company treats as its founding day. Until 1994 the enterprise was known as the Dniprovskyi Electrode Plant; after Ukrainian independence it was reorganised and renamed Ukrgrafit. Today it operates a full production cycle of carbon solutions for major industrial sectors, supplying graphite electrodes, electrode paste, cathode blocks for aluminium electrolysers, anode blocks for industrial electrolysers, carbon-graphite linings and carbon-containing materials. Its products are used in the production of steel, aluminium, alloys and other materials, and the company describes itself as optimising smelting and electrolysis processes for Ukrainian and international industrial enterprises for more than 90 years. The company reports over 150 loyal customers across all regions of the world, a modernisation programme in which 80% of fixed assets were renewed within the last five years, a 3.5-fold reduction in CO2 emissions over the last three years, and a planned capacity increase of 50,000 tonnes by 2030, with up to 50% of EBITDA invested annually in modernisation. Ukrgrafit is organised as a joint-stock company (ЧАО «Укрграфит») and publishes regular annual and interim issuer reports for shareholders and stakeholders. Following the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the company states that it has adapted to operating under martial law, continues to accept orders, produce goods, renew production capacities, pay taxes and provide resources for Ukraine's recovery. It also participated in the project 'Supporting Energy Modernisation of Enterprises in Wartime' implemented by the International Development Foundation. The company positions itself as a reliable supplier located in the heart of Eastern Europe, combining five generations of experience, prompt delivery and a technical team focused on stable customer operations.

History

Ukrgrafit's history is closely tied to the construction of the Dnipro Hydroelectric Station (DniproHES) and the Dnipro industrial complex. In 1930 the foundation of the Dnipro Aluminium Combine was laid, and the powerful reserves of metal ores and large coal deposits of Ukraine drove the formation of one of Europe's largest industrial complexes. The foundation of what became Ukrgrafit was laid as the Dniprovskyi Electrode Plant. On 21 September 1933, industrial production of anodes for aluminium electrolysers began — the date regarded as the company's birthday. In the 1930s the plant also mastered the production of carbon electrodes, anode mass, bottom mass and electrode mass. During the Second World War, equipment, workers and their families were evacuated; after the war the plant was quickly restored. In 1968 the enterprise was awarded the title 'Plant named after the 50th Anniversary of Soviet Ukraine'. In 1983, on its 50th anniversary, the plant was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honour. Until 1994 the enterprise was known as the Dniprovskyi Electrode Plant; it was then reorganised and renamed Ukrgrafit. In the post-independence period the company continued as a producer of carbon and graphite products, organised as a joint-stock company (ЧАО «Укрграфит»), and today reports that it operates a full production cycle of carbon solutions for most of the world's industrial sectors. Its electrode, cathode and other products play a key role in the production of steel, aluminium, alloys and other materials. The company states that over 90 years it has optimised the smelting and electrolysis processes of its customers, combining experience, inventiveness, the best raw materials and advanced technologies. It reports more than 150 loyal customers in all regions of the world, that 80% of its fixed assets have been renewed over the last five years, that CO2 emissions have been reduced 3.5-fold over the last three years, and that it plans a capacity increase of 50,000 tonnes by 2030 while investing up to 50% of EBITDA annually in modernisation. Following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Ukrgrafit states that it has adapted to operating under martial law, continues to work, accept orders, produce goods, renew production capacities, pay taxes and provide resources for Ukraine's recovery. It also took part in the project 'Supporting Energy Modernisation of Enterprises in Wartime', implemented by the International Development Foundation to support energy efficiency of industrial enterprises during the war.
