Overview
Usersnap is an Austrian web-application company and B2B SaaS product brand best known for its user-feedback, bug-reporting and product-evidence tools. Founded in 2013 by brothers Florian and Gregor Dorfbauer together with Josef Trauner, the company is headquartered in Linz, Austria, with additional offices in Vienna. Its software is used worldwide by web developers, designers, product managers and customer-service teams to capture visual feedback, annotated screenshots and structured bug reports directly inside websites and web applications. Usersnap positions itself as "the product evidence platform" for enterprise teams. The platform centralizes feedback from many channels, uses AI to surface trends and gaps, and helps product managers decide what to build next. Core capabilities include a feedback hub, feedback analysis, micro-surveys, bug reporting, in-app announcements and integrations with tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Zendesk, Slack and GitHub. A single code snippet powers segmented surveys, annotated screen-capture tickets and an in-product feedback menu tied to support. The company reports substantial scale: more than 300 million feedback-widget views per month, over 60,000 customers served worldwide, more than 2 million feedback items generated, and usage in over 100 countries. Its customer base spans large B2B enterprises and consumer-facing digital brands, including Instacart, Dynatrace, Canva, Lego, Microsoft, Runtastic, Hawaiian Airlines and Erste Bank, as well as universities and non-profit organizations. Usersnap is privately held. It raised early funding from SpeedInvest and from angel investors in Europe and the United States. The company remains active and continues to market its platform to growing SaaS companies and enterprise product teams.
History
Usersnap was founded in 2013 by two brothers, Florian and Gregor Dorfbauer, together with Josef Trauner. The idea grew out of the founders' own experience developing web applications, where they repeatedly ran into communication problems between developers, clients and other stakeholders. They wanted a visual communication tool that would make web development more efficient. The three founders began working on the project in early 2012. In 2013 Usersnap raised an investment from SpeedInvest, followed by four additional investments from angel investors in Europe and the United States. The product launched as a bug-tracking and feedback widget that could be embedded into any website. It captured screenshots of the browser and its current content and allowed users to annotate them directly in the browser, helping developers, clients and anyone involved in a web project communicate issues and impressions. Over time Usersnap expanded from a simple visual bug-reporting widget into a broader feedback and product-evidence platform. The company added feedback analysis, micro-surveys, in-app announcements and integrations with development and support tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Zendesk, Slack and GitHub. It also built AI-assisted taxonomy management to map topics and track sentiment across user feedback. Usersnap is headquartered in Linz, Austria, near the Danube, and operates additional offices in Vienna. It serves customers worldwide, including Microsoft, Facebook, Hawaiian Airlines, Runtastic, Instacart, Dynatrace, Canva, Lego and Erste Bank, as well as universities such as New York University, Columbia University, Duke University and Texas A&M University, and non-profit organizations such as the IAEA and the National Library of New Zealand. A Forbes article by Alison Coleman mentioned Usersnap as one of the startups to watch closely. The company remains privately held and active, marketing its platform to B2B enterprise product teams and growing SaaS companies.
