Vegenaise

Vegenaise is a vegan, egg-free mayonnaise-style condiment made by Follow Your Heart, the Southern California plant-based food company founded in 1970. Follow Your Heart describes Vegenaise as "THE original egg-free mayo" and markets it as "Better Than Mayo®." The brand's origin story ties directly to the company's Avocado, Tomato & Sprouts sandwich, which originally used an egg-free mayo whose supplier was found to be relabeling regular mayonnaise; Follow Your Heart then developed its own.

Follow Your Heart was founded in 1970 by four friends — Michael, Bob, Paul, and Spencer — who opened a seven-seat soup, salad, and sandwich counter in the back of a natural food store in Southern California. Their Avocado, Tomato & Sprouts sandwich used an egg-free mayo, but the company learned the supplier was relabeling regular mayonnaise as egg-free, sugar-free, preservative-free "vegetarian mayo." Follow Your Heart then developed its own egg-free mayo, which became Vegenaise. The company describes Vegenaise as "THE original egg-free mayo" and "Better Than Mayo®."
