VW received 22 related owner complaints in the US between early 2024 and August 2026 and finalized the recall plan in late September 2026. Interim measures include warning stickers reminding owners not to charge above 80% and, for connected vehicles, an expected OTA update to cap maximum charging at 80%, while the permanent fix remains in development.
