Overview
The Windel Group is a family-run group of companies based in Osnabrück, Germany. Its history dates back to 1900 when Ludwig Windel founded a confectionery wholesale business. Over time, it grew into an internationally active group with around 800 people in five companies, focusing on chocolate, coffee, and sweet gifts. The group is led by Fred Windel in the fourth generation.
History
The Windel Group's origins lie in 1900, when Ludwig Windel founded a confectionery wholesale business in Osnabrück. Over decades, it grew into an internationally active group. In 1966, Alfred and Mechthild Windel established combination articles (food and non-food components), with customers mainly being large department stores. In 1982, the first products of the newly founded Confiserie Heidel came onto the market. In 1986, chocolate-filled Advent calendars enriched the range. In 1995, the chocolate factory Farüchoc from Karlsruhe became part of the group, moving to Osnabrück in 1999. In 2003, Kim's Chocolates, one of the largest Belgian chocolate manufacturers, joined the group.
