Overview
WWF-Türkiye (Doğal Hayatı Koruma Vakfı) is part of the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) network, which operates in more than 100 countries. Its work covers six main global WWF areas — Seas, Biodiversity, Freshwater, Climate & Energy, Forests, and Food & Agriculture — along with related topics such as Education and Plastics. It aims to counter human-caused problems including habitat destruction, climate change, overconsumption of natural resources, pollution, and illegal hunting, in order to stop threats that lead to shrinking natural habitats and species loss.
History
WWF-Türkiye states that its nature conservation path began 51 years ago with the founding of the Doğal Hayatı Koruma Derneği in 1975, and that today it is part of the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) network, which operates in more than 100 countries.
