ZARGES is a German light-metal construction company and brand. According to its official website, the brand name ZARGES has for more than 90 years been synonymous with continuous innovations in the fields of access, packaging and transportation and special constructions. ZARGES describes itself as the first light-metal construction company in Europe to be operating internationally, from its headquarters in Weilheim / Upper Bavaria, with around 800 employees and three production plants in Europe. Its product range includes more than 500 types of ladders, ladder equipment, mobile scaffold towers, work platforms, bridging steps, stairs and stair landings made of light metal and plastic for industry, trade and service companies, crafts, home and garden. The company was founded in 1933 by the Zarges brothers, and within the WernerCo. group it cooperates with international teams.

History

ZARGES was founded on 1 September 1933 in Stuttgart, Germany, at Hermannstraße 20, as ZARGES Leichtmetallbau by company founder Walther Zarges, fulfilling his dream of establishing a company that makes day-to-day life easier for people through lightweight aluminium construction. In 1938, ZARGES became the first company in Europe to mass produce light-alloy ladders, with almost 100 employees at that time. By late 1939, the Stuttgart factory was at capacity, and the company relocated to Upper Bavaria. In 1948, the Allies entrusted ZARGES with servicing dismantled aircraft transported from Erding airfield to Weilheim for maintenance. In 1951, ZARGES began mass production of aluminium collapsible cases, which could be folded down to one sixth of their original volume when empty, and whose dimensions are in part still an industry standard. In 1954, ZARGES was associated with expeditions. The official company page states that ZARGES was founded in 1933 by the Zarges brothers as the first light metal construction company in Europe, and that within the WernerCo. group it cooperates with international teams.
