Anthropic launches Model Hardware Standard (MHS) in research preview
Anthropic released a blog post on August 27 introducing the Model Hardware Standard (MHS) in research preview form. MHS is a unified control and communication standard that lets AI agents operate devices with programmable interfaces, such as microscopes, liquid handlers, robotic arms and quantum computing equipment. Media including Reuters and CNBC interpreted the move as Anthropic's first public entry into embodied intelligence and physical AI. Genentech said that giving AI direct control of multiple heterogeneous lab devices cut the development and run cycle of fully automated dose-response curve experiments to one third of the original.
